Recipe for Fried Chicken Livers:

Ingredients:

  • 500g chicken livers, cleaned and trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the livers: Begin by rinsing the chicken livers and trimming off any visible fat. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Coating the livers: In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  3. Dipping the livers: Dip each chicken liver into the beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly in the flour mixture, pressing down gently to ensure an even coating.
  4. Frying: Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot (you can test by dropping in a small piece of flour — if it sizzles, it’s ready), carefully add the coated chicken livers. Fry them in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  5. Cooking time: Fry the livers for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Use tongs to flip them and ensure they cook evenly. The livers should be cooked through but still tender inside.
  6. Draining: Remove the cooked livers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  7. Serving: Garnish with fresh parsley or chives, if desired. Serve hot with a side of your favorite dipping sauce, like ranch, hot sauce, or honey mustard.

Enjoy your crispy, flavorful fried chicken livers!
